Four of the top 10 hotels in New York City trust The DUX Bed

By DUX Design, AB  •  October 20, 2014

Langham Place Fifth Avenue, The Greenwich Hotel, The Surrey-New York and The Quin all have earned the distinction of being selected by Condé Nast Traveler readers as four of the top 10 hotels in New York City. Congratulations to these hotels, who realize that the greatest luxury of all is a good nights sleep.

Langham Place- Fifth Avenue

Readers' Rating: 89.032

Langham Place, New York, Fifth Avenue

Just north of the Empire State building, this hotel has spacious rooms filled with natural light, supple surfaces, and natural materials like walnut desks and leather headboards. All the rooms and suites have walnut wardrobes, bedside tables, and trim; wondrously comfortable Duxiana beds; and deep soaking tubs. Another 57 apartment suites have full stainless-steel kitchens. But space is the real luxury, as always, in Manhattan. Rooms start at a generous-for–New York 400 square feet. Such acreage, and the personal assistant assigned to each guest, don’t come cheap, so brace yourself. The outstanding Italian restaurant, Ai Fiori, is one of Michael White’s (Marea, Osteria Morini). The sprawling spa has 11 treatment rooms. But perhaps the sweetest service for travelers is the flexible check-in and check-out policy.

The Greenwich Hotel

Readers' Rating: 88.244

Greenwich Hotel

Like Robert De Niro’s previous business ventures in TriBeCa, his Greenwich Hotel is a well-timed success. Behind the unassuming brick facade is a mountain lodge meets ryokan ambience. The drawing room has a fireplace, plush mismatched couches, a wood-beamed ceiling, and knickknacks from all over the world. This rustic theme is carried out in the 88 spacious guest rooms—but don’t let the distressed look fool you. All are luxuriously kitted out and have complimentary mini-bars. The large underground pool is the hotel’s pièce de résistance: Set beneath a 250-year-old bamboo roof and reclaimed wood, it’s a rare find in spatially limited Manhattan.

The Surrey Hotel

Readers' Rating: 87.381

The Surrey

Looking down upon the particularly posh stretch of Madison Avenue, this 189-room hotel underwent a $60 million renovation five years ago—one that transformed a reliable if unexciting hostelry into one of the neighborhood’s most desirable addresses. The lobby’s Art Deco-inspired black-and-dove gray palette is echoed in the generously sized rooms (the bathrooms are particularly large), with wide Duxiana beds. The good design and cheerful, unpretentious staff aside, this isn’t a hotel meant for lingering—the only public spaces are the snug lobby, the chic Bar Pleiades, Boulud Cafe (which also provides the room service), and the private rooftop garden—but why would you want to, anyway? One block south is the gray bulwark of the Whitney Museum, and one block west is Central Park.

The Quin

Readers' Rating: 85.335

Quin Hotel

Opened in 2013, this 208-room luxury hotel acts as a new Midtown Manhattan stomping ground, just minutes from Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Fifth Avenue shopping. Its tech-friendly amenities include free Wi-Fi and a Drawing Room (read: quiet study space) with Apple products.
