OUR STORY
THE HISTORY OF DUX

DUX High Performance Sleep Systems are the result of nearly nine decades of research and testing. At the core of every DUX mattress is a remarkably engineered system whose spring components are precisely calibrated and configured to accommodate the size, shape and weight of its user. DUX technology is based upon an encyclopedic understanding of sleep mechanics. The DUX Bed is designed to provide Correct Sleep Posture, a position where the spine is perpendicular to the hips so the muscles in the lower back can completely and fully relax. The result is measurable. In fact, sleep studies prove that DUX users not only fall asleep faster, but enjoy an extra hour of Deep Sleep — the only sleep stage where the body’s immune system and muscle groups heal and repair themselves.

DUX technology provides the most ergonomically sophisticated bed available on the market. And to this day, the company that makes the DUX Bed is still owned and operated by the Ljung family, who make their and the company’s home in Sweden.

Originally formed by Efraim Ljung to produce the first innerspring mattresses in Sweden four generations of this Swedish family have evolved DUX into an international concern with 88 stores worldwide.

DUX designs are characterized by clean, simple, and contemporary lines. All DUX products are made from top of the line materials, with the finest Swedish craftsmanship, ergonomic research and engineering.

In the U.S., the history of DUX stretches back to 1977 with the opening of a showroom and offices in New York, NY. DUX North America is responsible for all marketing in the US, working closely with the company’s factories in Europe on the coordination of American projects.

The DUX trademark has been rated in the top 100 most valuable trademarks in Sweden coming in at number 17.  DUX was also the only privately owned company in the top 50.

In 1987, DUX introduced the DUXIANA marketing concept in Europe, Great Britain and the United States. A tightly controlled system, these specialty stores are under license arrangement, and provide exclusive furnishings for the bedroom, with particular emphasis on the DUX bed. Serving as one-stop shopping centers for the bedroom, DUXIANA stores offer, in addition to The DUX Bed, the highest quality headboards, linens and down products.

To date The DUX Bed is available in 28 DUXIANA stores in North America and in over 88 locations worldwide.
